An industry legend passed peacefully in his California home yesterday as millions of fans all over the world erupted on facebook and twitter with expressions of their sadness, condolences to his family, and stories of how the late and great Sassoon had made such an impression on their lives. A fitting tribute to the man who "changed the world with a pair of scissors," and who built his empire from humble beginnings through a combination of hard work, unique talent, and brilliant vision. Sassoon, famous for the revolutionary Mia Farrow haircut, was known and renowned throughout the world for being the authority on cutting edge techniques and styles. A trendsetter and icon, the news of his death spread like wildfire through James Joseph Salon yesterday with stylists sharing with one another in his memory the impact he had made on their lives and the direction they chose in their careers. Most stylists, having Vidal Sassoon Academy training, will be forever grateful for the role he played in their decision to follow this path and the invaluable teaching they recieved in courses structered even to this day in the ABC's of cutting and cutting as was pioneered by Sassoon himself. To the entire Sassoon family, our condolences for your loss, and our gratitude for sharing with us a remarkable man who will forever be remembered and revered in our industry.
